The heart of many homes is the kitchen. It is in the kitchen where lunches are thrown together in record time. Apple and peanut butter snacks are prepared. Romantic meals are stressed over and plated and holiday cookies are decorated. In many homes the kitchen is where individuals migrate to and gather; many of our first and lasting memories, right along with thousands of meals, were created in our kitchens. Whether it was getting caught scraping a heavy chair across the floor to reach the cookie jar or, on those special occasions, licking the batter right off the spoon, we live, grow and learn in our kitchens.
When it comes to building and setting the interior designs for our kitchens there are a lot of lasting decisions that need to be made regarding countertops and cabinets. Countertops and cabinetry will be there for years and years. Like the choice of appliances this investment needs to be carefully considered. Primera provides many resources to assist our clients in creating the kitchen of their dreams; this includes finding the perfect cabinets for the different and diverse kitchen designs that our clients’ desire. Primera supplies our clients with countertops made out of a variety of material like granite, ceramic tile and engineered stone all of which have different strengths. The naturalness of granite and its depth of durability is hard to forgo, ceramic tile gives you the option of many custom-designs and engineered stone gives you the most variation when it comes to color. Once a decision is made on countertops, then pairing with the cabinetry can begin.
When it comes to choosing cabinetry complimenting your countertop choice is important but functionality also needs to come into play. Carefully consider the amount of storage that you want to have in your kitchen and the accessibility and the layout that you want to put in to place. Quite often when we are in the kitchen, one of our hands is already occupied so ease of opening should be considered when you are deciding on the hardware for your cabinet doors. Matching hues, light with light and dark with dark might be the initial first thought when it comes to installing cabinets in the kitchen, but that is not necessarily the way to go. You don’t want to create a cave in your kitchen or totally white-wash it out. Complimenting or contrasting instead of matching is a better route to take.
As you create the center of your home, remember before making a big decision to always ask to take home samples and see how they look in your lighting and in your environment.
