Benefits of a one stop shop

I don’t know what your grocery list looks like, but today mine read…

  • gallon of milk
  • toothpaste
  • birthday present for 8 year old niece
  • car battery for 16 year old son’s 2002 Chevy Impala

Just like millions of Americans, I headed to Wal-Mart to complete my list.  Yes, they have great prices, but I needed the convenience of a ‘one stop shop’.  I don’t have time to go to a grocery store, a pharmacy, a toy store, and a mechanic.  In today’s economy, time is money and both are in short supply.

This ‘one stop shop’ philosophy even holds true for the consumer looking to remodel a home or build new.  Instead of toothpaste and batteries, they are shopping for cabinets, flooring, countertops, and even window treatments.  While they may not find ‘roll back’ prices, they will likely receive discounts when purchasing multiple products.  Having all product options in one location makes coordinating colors, textures, and styles very simple.

Working with one contractor makes it easier to schedule the installation of products so your project is completed on time and on budget.  ‘One stop shops’ also have one contact for the many questions and changes that are sure to arise.  Find comfort knowing that the whole team is working as one to bring your dream to completion.

So whether you’re shopping for mouthwash and eggs or granite and tile, try ‘one stop shopping’ to save time, money, and stress!

Countertops dilemma

Are you stuck between a rock and a hard place; more specifically, between granite and engineered stone?  Choosing a countertop isn’t as easy as flipping a coin, or is it?  Engineered stone is a composite of material made of crushed stone bound together by polymer resin.  It is commonly referred to as quartz, but engineered stone can be made up of other materials, including granite, marble, and semi-precious stones.  Natural granite on the other hand, is mined straight from the Earth and cut into slabs.  While granite countertops have been a famous choice for years, engineered stone is on the rise and rightfully so.

Engineered countertops give your kitchen or bath the look and functionality of stone without the maintenance.  You never have to seal engineered stone and because it is a non-porous material, it decreases the spread of bacteria.  It is a man-made product so you will have consistency in color and design and seams tend to be less visible than granite if properly installed.  You will also have a better chance of matching the pattern in the event you need a replacement piece.  Engineered countertops can give your kitchen a contemporary feel without overshadowing your backsplash or cabinetry.

Since granite is a natural product, you will find more movement or variance in each slab.  Just like a snowflake, no two pieces of granite are ever the same. For many, this is the allure of granite. With this variance, however, you may also find some flaws and fissures which could potentially weaken the granite.  But time and time again granite has proven to be durable and continues to be the best return on investment.  What can I say?  Granite is granite.  It is a timeless beauty.

Since price, durability, and functionality are neck and neck, your decision will most likely come down to personal preference.  Heads or tails? Are you a timeless beauty or contemporary classic?
